Latest ConDem Government changes to pensions amount to no change at all. Keep voting for action on 30th November

The government has made a change to its original proposals, but it is small relative to the losses the overall proposals involve. Unite, with other unions, is committed to continuing negotiations to try and improve the offer further.

Unite, your union, has analysed these proposals and concluded that this is an offer we cannot accept on your behalf. These slightly amended proposals still mean a serious attack on your pension.

If you have not voted yet in the ballot currently underway to defend your pension, vote now and VOTE YES.
These new proposals, and the detailed implications for the pensions offer within each scheme, will now need to be considered in detail within the sector specific negotiations, alongside all the other issues including proposed contribution increases, increases in the pension age, and the impact of the indexation change from the RPI to CPI on which the government's position remains unchanged.

There is still along way to go and Unite remains committed to the Day of Action on November 30.
Your vote is your voice.
Please use it so we can win a better deal for you.

Thank you

Len McCluskey
Unite general secretary

Vote Yes ! Defend your pension, Take action on November 30th

VOTE YES! VOTE YES! VOTE YES !

Over the next few days you will be receiving a ballot paper, Unite is urging all members in the public sector to vote yes to taking action on November 30th.

If the government gets its way, those of you contributing to public sector pension schemes will be forced to work longer, pay higher pension contributions and get a poorer pension in retirement.
